Sabeer,

You can download those two functions here:

http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/psd/people/dave.allured/data/ncl/lib/find_substring.ncl
http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/psd/people/dave.allured/data/ncl/lib/substring.ncl

Just load them before calendar_decode2. Alternatively, insert the
two functions at the head of your installed copy of
calendar_decode2.ncl.
