Norbert,

There's not enough information to go on here. You can try searching for the words or phrases "error" and "file not found" in make-output.
Do you have the HDF include files installed in /usr/include/hdf (and not directly in /usr/include)?

If you email the make-output file, I can usually see what the problem is right away.
