Dennis,

Thanks for your prompt as ever response.

I wasn't sufficiently clear in my original email. I'm looking to calculate elevation in m above sea level for 3-d model output. I already have the geopotential heights, as well as temp., spec. humidity etc. plus surface terrain.

I think that dz_height may be the correct function? If so what upper elevation do I give the function? The model top is at 50 hPa.

Background:
I'm trying to get RegCM data in NCAR's excellent Vapor tool. Our WRF output looks super in 3-d, and trying to do same with RegCM data. Vapor uses WRFs base geopotential and perturbation geopotential fields to calculate height/elevation, I do not have those data and need to calculate elevation from standard model output.
