Hi,

Examples 4 and 5 on the shapefiles-examples page shows how to mask out data based upon a shapefile, using the function gc_inout():

This can be computational expensive if the shapefile is highly detailed. If I understand correctly, you probably want to compute the mean temperature for all the data, then do the masking (?)
