tick mark problem

hi,
I found that when I use
            res@pmTickMarkDisplayMode = "Always"
the tickmark space would become 2 auto (eg. lon : 110 112 114 lat : 18 20 22 ).
How to change the lat/lon space after I use the attribute above?
