turn off inland water plot

Dear All:

I want to plot high-resolution coast lines, but I don't want to plot the inland water body and boundaries. I did something thing like:
  res1@mpAreaMaskingOn = True ; turn on area masking
  res1@mpMaskAreaSpecifiers = "mpInlandWater" ; don't draw this area

However, it does not work.

It shows that:
warning:mpAreaMaskingOn is not a valid resource in m12_tot_rain_SI_contour at this time
warning:mpMaskAreaSpecifiers is not a valid resource in m12_tot_rain_SI_contour at this time

My NCL version is 5.2.0

Can you tell me the right way to do this.
