I speculate that you have not placed the recommended .hluresfile
in your home directory. This contains changes to NCL's default
settings. The graphical scripts created by wrfhelp expect
these different settings.

Download this file and install it in your * home * directory.
Name the file
.hluresfile
Note the period . prior to the 'hluresfile'
