Change color within text string?

I have located the functions to change font characteristics within a text string (http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Document/Graphics/function_code.shtml), but changing color within a string does not seem to be an option.  Am I missing something? I am using ncl 6.1.0-beta. Thank you, Alan
