Tangential Velocity and Radial Velocity

Hallo NCL Users,

I just wonder, anybody knows how can I calculate
tangential velocity and Radial velocity if i have zonal (u) and meridional
wind (v) components in lat-lon map.
Is there any special function in NCL to do that.. I am really grateful if
somebody can share their experience..
