WRF time-series plot without tslist

Does anyone have an NCL routine that plots time series of WRF data at a point, that uses some other method than the example shown at http://www.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/OnLineTutorial/Graphics/NCL/Examples/SPECIAL/wrf_ts.htm, or the ones at http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Applications/wrfxy.shtml that say they are deprecated?

Shouldn't be too hard to read a (few) wrfout file(s), pick a point, and plot the values. But no sense in me starting from scratch if someone else is willing to share.

Bonus points will be awarded for the ability to:

        - pick the point by lat-lon or projected X,Y instead of I,J
        - read multiple wrfout files, from separate inits with overlapping spin-up times
        - plot hourly precip rather than accumulated precip
        - use the new wrf_times bits to make the X-axis fancier

Thanks,

Bart Brashers
