°C (deg C) in NCL

Hello,

i am trying to add the met. unit °C (deg C) in a map. I have found several interesting work around's like shown in https://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Support/talk_archives/2008/0955.html or http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Applications/Scripts/text_7.ncl.

Is the problem solved in current versions? Can I simply use normal utf-8-coding with some additional library?

The following line is not working with 6.2.0
txid3 = gsn_create_text(wks, "[°C]", txres)
