Subject: [Bug] plotting WRF data on Mercator projection
To: ncl-talk@ucar.edu

Hello,

I ran into an issue when trying to plot my WRF domain using the wrf_map
function in WRFUserARW.ncl.

The issue lies in plotting WRF domains on Mercator projection when the
centre-latitude is not 0.0 or when standard longitude is read instead
of centre-longitude.

I found this forum thread from 2012, where the problem was identified
and a work-around presented:
http://forum.wrfforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=4191

I tried applying the fix proposed by jan (in that forum thread) but I
couldn't get that working, I then updated to NCL 6.2.0, but the problem
remained. I also checked in WRFUserARW.ncl, the problematic lines are
the same as in 6.0.0; so I assume no one else submitted a bug report on
this issue (the search function on the web-page wasn't working, so I
couldn't check the ncl-talk archive).

I've uploaded a tarball with files illustrating the problem here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4539348/bug-report.tar.gz
It contains:
* A stripped down version of my netCDF-file from WRF
* A short NCL-script illustrating the problem and a quick workaround
* A PDF showing both the wrong and the expected results
(the same figure as will be generated by the script)

Hope this helps,

//Adam
