bugs in gsn_csm_contour_map_overlay ?

Im trying to have a panel plots using gsn_csm_contour_map_overlay function,
for 16 panel members, they look OK, but when i extend to 20 members or >16,
the plot is not working properly,
 the contours and the shadings are not overlaid in the same place.
