dave,
the ability to have multiple colored bar charts was added in version 25,
so if that is the capability you are after, you definately need to
download the latest version.
if you can not get bar_1.ncl to work (e.g. turning a basic xy line plot
into a bar chart, then something else is going on)
download and let me know if that doesn't fix the problem.
