Fill patterns

According to the NCL website, fill patterns (hatching etc.) are only
partially supported when using ContourPlot:

It says that fill patterns are supported when cnFillMode = AreaFill
(normal filled contour plots), but not for RasterFill or CellFill modes
(filled boxes).

Are there any plans to add fill pattern support for these other modes?
I would like to request that this support be added when feasible. I'm
constrained by a certain publication's black and white printing
requirements. Fill patterns within filled boxes would be the best
solution for my current problem. Thanks.
