Hi Keith,

not sure if this is going to help you. I have a .ncl script that
generates a mask for the timezones across
the US. It checks for each gridpoint which timezone the gridpoint is in,
the timezones come from a shapefile.

It seems to me if you have a shapefile that has all the states in it (
http://www.nationalatlas.gov/atlasftp.html#statep0 ) it may be possible
to adjust my script for your purpose. You can generate mask files for
the different regions using the states shapefile instead of the
timezones I was using.

Hope this helps,
Maria
