VI syntax highlighting

Hi,

I'm trying to implement NCL syntaxh highlighting using ncl1.vim
from the instructions found at

http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Applications/editor.shtml

I'm working on a Linux cluster and do not have access to the /etc/.vimrcfile.
Instead, I'm working from the one in my home catalog. Nevertheless, I cannot
get the highlighting to work. I keep getting the error message:

No mapping found.

Does anyone have any experience with this and would like to help?

/M
