trouble installing ncl on mac-book

Hi,

I installed the pre-compiled binaries on my mac-book and set
environment variables. I tried to test the installation but get the
following error message.

ng4ex xy01n -clean

NCAR Graphics NCL Example <xy01n>

  Copying xy01n.ncl
  Copying xy01.res

Running NCL...
dyld: Library not loaded: /Users/haley/dev/external/lib/libnc-dap.
3.dylib
  Referenced from: /Applications/
ncl_ncarg-5.1.1.MacOS_i386_9.7.0_opendap/bin/ncl
  Reason: image not found
Trace/BPT trap

ncl failed.

What library is it looking for and how do I point it to this library?
Any help would be appreciated.
