string Figures

Hi all,
how do you put string figures when you have not used the gsn_Panel resource
to draw paneled plots? It is easy to do this when you have a the gsn_panel
resource (i.e you use gsnPanelFigureStrings). How do I do this when I use
frame(wks) or maximize_output(wks,res)?
