Thanks for the including the graphic. I can't really tell from this what the problem might be. My first guest is that something is wrong with your lat/lon values or else you have some bad values in your data.
We always tell people to "look at your data" when you see problems with it. In this case, I would look at the min/max of the data, and also look at the lat/lon arrays to see how they differed from the other arrays.
It would help if we could see your script, and/or a "printVarSummary" and "printMinMax" on the "bad" variable and its corresponding lat/lon arrays
Another possibility is that the lat/lon values are somehow ordered wrong. I've seen this when people read in lat/lon data from an ASCII file, and don't quite get the right index locations of the lat/lon arrays figured out.
