Description

This 26-minute introductory presentation describes the NCL variable model and how it relates to the NetCDF data format. It includes a quick description of the CF and COARDS conventions, a detailed description of the metadata components of a NetCDF file (global attributes, dimension names, variable attributes, coordinate variables), and a short demonstration of creating an NCL graphic of contours over a global map.
